We create apparel, home goods, and experimental products across our Essentials, Labs, and Together labels. We’re still small and growing, which means the people we work with have a real opportunity to shape what comes next. About the role
Provide occasional legal guidance to Ella + Aspen as we grow. This is a flexible, contract-based role for someone we can turn to when legal questions come up, documents need a second set of eyes, or we need help understanding our obligations before moving forward.
You may help with:
- Reviewing contracts, agreements, and releases
- Answering occasional legal questions and providing general guidance
- Reviewing policies, terms, and other customer-facing legal documents
- Identifying potential legal concerns with new products, partnerships, campaigns, or business initiatives
- Helping us understand when a situation requires more specialized or local legal counsel
This is not a full-time or fixed-hours position. The role is entirely as needed, with no guaranteed minimum hours. Legal questions or projects may come up only occasionally, and some months may have no work at all. There is potential for an ongoing relationship as Ella + Aspen grows.
Requirements
- Licensed attorney in good standing with the State Bar of California
- J.D. or equivalent law degree
- Able to provide legal guidance on a contract basis
- Strong written communication and the ability to explain legal issues in plain language
- Comfortable working with a small, growing ecommerce/consumer brand
- Able to identify when an issue falls outside your jurisdiction or expertise and recommend appropriate specialized counsel
